World Match Racing Tour: Korea Match Cup

Tuesday 14 September at 9:00 p.m.

Y&S continues to show the appointments of the World Boat Match Racing Tour on Tuesday 14 September at 9:00 p.m. The leading professional sailing series featuring 10 World Championship events across the globe arrives in Korea, for the Korea Match Cup. Racing takes place close to the shore for the general public, so it is possible to follow the races as virtual on-the-water stadiums. Twelve crews are ready to compete for being crowned 2010 ISAF Match Racing World Champion. Sebastian Col, Ben Ainslie, Mathieu Richard, Ian Williams e Bertrand Pace are some of the greatest names who participate to this race. In this third appointment, Mathieu Richard and his French Match Racing Team crew will take on two time World Champion Ian Williams from England in the final to try and win the 2010 Korea Match Cup. Two years ago, Richard was watching the skippers in the final hoping to reach it himself one day. Williams has now been in the final at Korea Match Cup for the last 3 years since the inception of the Korean leg of the World Boat Match Racing Tour. However, Williams has not yet won this Tour stage. Racing will be held in Jeongok and Jebu, which are part of the Gyeonggi Province. The West Coast of this province offers a coastline that stretches over 350 kilometres, a true ecological trove. It is an ideal place for the tourism industry that is developing rapidly in Korea. Moreover, through different important events and among these the World Boat Match Racing Tour, the province aims at fostering the growth of the maritime leisure industry within the Republic of Korea.
